Position Breakdowns:

Mechanics – Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanics (Underground Mining)

A Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic in underground mining is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mobile mining equipment to ensure reliable and safe operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of underground mobile equipment, including scoop trams, jumbos, bolters, haul trucks, and drills.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing according to OEM specifications and site requirements.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner, both on surface and underground.
  • Use diagnostic tools and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex systems.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Certified Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or equivalent Red Seal Certification.
  • Experience working with underground mining equipment and systems.
  • Strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, service manuals, and technical drawings.


Licensed Electricians – Underground Mining

A Licensed Electrician in underground mining is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment used in mining operations. This includes power distribution, lighting, communication systems, and electrical components on both fixed and mobile mining equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems in underground and surface facilities.
  • Maintain and service electrical components on mining equipment such as jumbos, bolters, scoops, and ventilation systems.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, regulations, and site-specific safety procedures.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and testing on switchgear, transformers, motors, MCCs, and power distribution systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults in low and high-voltage systems.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Valid Electrical License (e.g., Red Seal Journeyperson or Provincial Certification).
  • Experience working with electrical systems in an industrial or underground mining environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes, safety standards, and troubleshooting techniques.

Schedule:

  • 14 days on, 14 days off (FIFO rotation)

Accommodations & Travel: Technica Mining covers accommodations and travel, including fly-in/fly-out options, mileage reimbursement, camp accommodations, and hotel/apartment stays, depending on location.
